Francis S. Gabreski Airport (FOK)

AIRPORT OVERVIEW

Francis S. Gabreski Airport is a General Aviation airport located on 1,451 acres in the Town of Southampton on eastern Long Island. Owned and operated by the County of Suffolk, the Airport has 3 runways’ one of which is 9,000 feet long, among the longest on the island.

The Airport is utilized by private aviation, corporate businesses, and air taxi services. Fixed Based Operator (FBO) Modern Aviation, provides services including fuel, parking, and aircraft services. Gabreski Airport is home to the 106th Rescue Wing of the Air National Guard - a very important entity to Suffolk County, New York State, and the Nation. With long range flying capabilities, the 106th operates over-water search and rescue missions, from the Azores to the Bahamas. The unit also assists in disaster relief and other state emergencies. The 106th Rescue Wing, New York Air National Guard, is the parent organization of the Oldest Air National Guard unit in the Country, the 102nd Rescue Squadron tracing its roots back to the 1st Aero Squadron which was formed in 1908 in New York. The 106th has a fleet of Lockheed HC130 aircraft and Sikorski HH60 Helicopters. The Airport is also home of the Hampton Business District, an Industrial Park which is planned for over 400,000 square feet of industrial and office space. The first four of ten buildings have been completed comprising 195,432 square feet. The Park promotes economic growth for the local community by coordinated and creative development suitable for multiple uses. The collaborative vision of Southampton Town and Suffolk County for the site is that it will be developed as a corporate center with emphasis on high-technology, homeland security, and communications industries.
