Just as CPR skills make physical first aid possible, training in suicide intervention develops the skills used in suicide first aid. ASIST is a two day intensive, interactive, and practice dominated course designed to help caregivers recognize risk and learn how to intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. The workshop is for all caregivers (any person in a position of trust). This includes professionals, paraprofessionals, and lay people. It is suitable for mental health professionals, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, teachers, counselors, youth workers, police, and correctional staff, school support staff, clergy and community leaders. The presenters will be Dr. Mansour (Max) Banilivy, and Michael Hoffman. The training is free for general attendance; 15 Social Work CEUs are available for a fee of $55.92 (+$6.32 processing fee making it a total of $62.24). The classes will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, October 16 &17, 2018. From 8:30am-4:30pm. Registration starts at 8:00 am, please be on time. Bring your own lunch. To register please contact Dr. Banilivy: Max.Banilivy@welllifenetwork.org or 631-920-8039. You must get a confirmation of Registration to be considered registered. Due to the short notice, please note that if a minimum number of attendees is not met, the training will be rescheduled.
