The Parks Department offers numerous recreational opportunities for park visitors on its outer beaches. Weather and beach conditions permitting, the Parks Department allows day and night fishing, camping and day trips for patrons with a properly permitted 4-wheel drive vehicle.

Effective May 21, 2016 until Further Notice:

Smith Point County Park: The Outer Beach at Smith Point will be open for limited day tripping and fishing.  Outer Beach Access begins East of Cut 1 and is open to 1000 feet east of Cut 2 EXCEPT FOR AREAS POSTED "NO PARKING."  No Vehicles are allowed beyond barricade east of Cut 2.  Vehicles must back up to dunes or fencing.  At NO TIME shall anyone enter or allow pets to enter restricted bird nesting areas.  BURMA ROAD is closed and there is no access to Moriches Inlet at this time.  There is currently no Outer Beach camping at Smith Point until further notice.  For up-to-date conditions please call the Park Office at (631)852-1315.

Cupsogue Beach County Park: Access to the Outer beach is open.  There is no beach front driving.

Montauk County Park: The Outer Beach is open for camping and day tripping.  For up-to-date conditions please call the Park Office at (631)852-7879

Shinnecock East: Limited access for day trips (please follow park signs for access locations). Sites 66-103 are currently closed for camping.  If you have a reservation at one of these sites, please call our office at (631) 854-4949 for site relocation or cancellation.  

Charles F. Altenkirch County Park, formerly known as Shinnecock West County Park: Outer Beach is open from September 15 – March 15. Limited parking is available, for County residents, in the parking lot adjacent to the inlet.

Cedar Point County Park: the Outer Beach is Open for day trips only.
