Intensive Supervision Narcotic Unit

Purpose:
To provide a more intensive level of supervision to probationers who are considered high-risk substance abusers and whose drug/alcohol abuse is so chronic and/or severe that it undermines their ability to comply with their conditions of probation.

Criteria: 
Unit accepts newly sentenced cases as well as those currently on probation supervision. Cases must have narcotic conditions and score 2/4 or above on the Differential Classification Form (Prob. 30-120).

Features: 
A Labor Specialist is available to address probationer’s employment and educational/training needs. A cognitive behavioral model known as “criminal thinking” is provided in group settings to reduce recidivism.

Exclusions: 
Do not accept Interim cases.

Referral Process: 
Judiciary; DA; defense counsel; Probation may also screen and refer either at the PSI level, or during active supervision.
