About

The Suffolk County Board of Ethics oversees the “conflict of interest” laws for Suffolk County employees as well as the “financial disclosure” laws, which apply to certain County officials (Part 1 of Chapter 77 of the Suffolk County Code). Under these County laws, the Board has the authority and responsibility to, among other things:

  • Provide training and education to County employees on conflicts of interests.
  • Render advisory opinions to County employees on the County's conflicts of interest law.
  • Issue, collect, and review annual financial disclosure statements that are required to be filed by certain County officials and produce completed forms in response to public document requests.
  • Review complaints and conduct investigations to determine if there were violations of the County's conflicts of interest law and financial disclosure law.
  • Impose penalties for violations as authorized by law.
