Hiring a Cesspool Contractor?
Cesspool Contractors operating within Suffolk County are required to be licensed by the Suffolk County Office of Consumer Affairs. All licensed contractors are required to be insured and bonded. They also must demonstrate their knowledge of the industry prior to receiving a license. This license is required to protect you the consumer. Pumping contractors are also required to be licensed by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
The Suffolk County Department of Health recommends pumping of a residential septic system every 2 to 3 years.
Things you should do when you require Service:
1.
Ask the contractor for their Suffolk County Consumer Affairs License Number. 2. Call the Consumer Affairs office to determine the status of the contractor's license and their performance record. 3. Ask the contractor for references in your area. 4. Ask the contractor about his service procedures. 5. If at all possible, inspect the job as it progresses to determine that the contractor is following his service procedure.
