With the coldest months of the year quickly approaching, many residents will turn to alternative methods of heating their homes to save money on oil, gas or electric heat. Stoves, space heaters and fireplaces may provide needed warmth, but they can also present many dangers if they are not installed and maintained properly. Each year in the United States, more than 20,000 fires are caused by home heating stoves and heaters. Residents must be vigilant when using them.
