The Cartography & GIS (Geographic Information System) Section provides in-house cartographic and GIS assistance to the Economic Development & Planning Department staff and other county agencies. It also provides assistance to towns, villages and other public agencies with jurisdictions within Suffolk County. GIS-based assistance includes land use, parks and open space, farmland, as well as maps relating to specific projects such as aquaculture, land preservation, waterfront development, or natural resources.
Maps available for download can be found on this site. These include various topics pertaining to the Political Boundaries, Census Information, Infrastructure, Environment, Census, and other topics of general interest within Suffolk County. All downloadable maps are in PDF format.

HISTORIC AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
The Cartographic & GIS Section is the repository for aerial photographs that were used for specific Planning projects. The Suffolk County Departments of Health Services, Public Works and Soil & Water Conservation District house other sets of historic aerial photography as well. The historic aerial photographs housed at the Planning & Environment Division are for viewing purposes only. To view these aerials an appointment is necessary.
