Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent F. DeMarco hosted his Third Annual Gang Seminar on Thursday, October 22nd in Smithtown. The seminar, which was attended by hundreds of law enforcement professionals and community activists, highlighted the latest trends in gang intelligence.
Sheriff DeMarco, host of the conference, says that, “It is imperative to realize that we are not insulated from the insidious effects of gang influence. Gang intelligence gathering and sharing is our best tool in battling today’s organized crime.”
The seminar featured multiple high profile speakers with expertise in Gang Intelligence. Speakers included Jamie Lyn Rubin, Esq., Associate Director, Investigative Research Center on Extremism Anti-Defamation League, Investigator Jason Robles, New York State Police, Investigator Vincent Jackson, S.C. Sheriff’s Office Internal Security Unit, Retired MSgt. USAF, Security Forces Anti-terrorism/Force Protection, along with members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Gang Intelligence Unit. This seminar is once again presented with the support of the Mid-Atlantic Great lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network (MAGLOCLEN) and the S.C. Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.
Sheriff DeMarco adds, “Gang intelligence sharing gives our local law enforcement officers the information they need to recognize gang related activity and makes our officers pro-active, rather than reactive.”
