Long Term Care Many of our long-term residents come to John J. Foley because they already know us. They may have been part of our Adult Day Health Care Program, or they may have stayed here for physical rehabilitation while recovering from a medical condition or procedure. In either case they learned what it means to be part of the John J. Foley community, and knew that there was no better choice when their need for skilled nursing care became apparent. Others come to us because a particular event or worsening medical condition has made accepting a different way of life a necessity. They quickly learn that "different" can also mean "better" ...that a new sense of security and wider range of social opportunities can add excitement to their lives. Our immediate goal for any new resident is to make them - along with the members of their family part of our extended family. And while both social workers and psychologists are on hand to help with the transition, there are always other residents ready to take a newcomer "under their wing." Resident rooms are spacious and airy, with large windows that look across wide, heavily treed vistas. Accommodations provide ample opportunities for "personalization" and homey touches, and include bathrooms that are designed to promote self-sufficiency.
