ORGANIZATION
The Office of the Chief of Patrol
The Patrol Division is headed by the Chief of Patrol, who is responsible for all patrol and related services in the Suffolk County Police District.  It is the function of the Patrol Division to enforce all applicable state and local laws, prevent crime, deter criminal activity, apprehend offenders, aid in the recovery and return of stolen property, identify and report hazardous conditions, preserve the public peace and reduce fear in the community.  The division provides services vital to public safety including emergency services, traffic control, accident investigation and assistance to other state and local agencies.  Patrol responsibilities are distributed to 7 major geographic areas called precincts.


Assistant Chief of Patrol - Assistant Chief of Patrol Nicholas Mango holds a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the PERF Senior Management Institute for Police. He joined the Suffolk County Police Department in 1973. He has been the Deputy Chief of Patrol, the Assistant Chief of Patrol and Commanding Officer of the Juvenile and Missing Persons Section, Narcotics Enforcement Team, Marine Bureau, 6th Precinct, and the Internal Affairs Bureau.


Deputy Chief of Patrol - Deputy Chief Patrick Cuff holds a Masters degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.  He joined the Suffolk County Police Department in 1983.  He has been the Commanding Officer of the 3rd Precinct since February, 2005.
