On 6/17/15 at approximately 6:45 p.m., Katherine Riddick, a 30 year old female of Mastic Beach, attempted to smuggle Heroin and Suboxone into the Yaphank Correctional Facility under a false name. She was arrested and faces five felony charges and three misdemeanor charges.

Ms. Riddick entered the facility using her sister’s name and identification to visit an inmate, intending to pass the drugs to him during the visit.  Investigators from Internal Security had received information that a visitor planned on passing contraband and intercepted Ms. Riddick at the Yaphank Visiting Room, where she surrendered a balloon containing the Heroin and Suboxone.

Ms. Riddick was arrested and charged with four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, two counts of Promoting Prison Contraband, Forgery 2nd, and False Personation.  She will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Sheriff Vincent F. DeMarco stated, “Our Investigators work diligently to develop and exploit information to further our interdiction efforts; bottom line, don’t bring drugs to jail or you won’t be leaving.”
