BRENTWOOD, NY--  Today, Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent F. DeMarco announced the Sheriff’s Office First Annual Scout Day will take place on Sunday, June 1, 2014.  The event will be held at the Sheriff’s Academy Bureau located at Suffolk Community College at 503 Wicks Road in Brentwood from 12:00- 4:00 pm .  All Suffolk County Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops are welcome to attend. 

Showcased Events:

Operation Safe Child: Fingerprint Identification System in conjunction with Amber Alert.

McGruff the Crime Dog: Anti-Bullying program. Pictures will be available with McGruff.

Sheriff’s Office Academy Tour: Learn about joining the Sheriff’s Office.

Drunk Buggy: This is a first-hand opportunity to understand the dangers of driving under the influence.

Defensive Tactic Demonstration: Learn from the Sheriff’s Office Master Defensive Tactics Instructor  about simple ways to protect oneself.

Sheriff’s Canine Team: Observe the Sheriff’s Canine Team at work.

Bicycle Rodeo: Bike Safety Clinic to teach kids the real world skills they need to ride a bicycle safely.

The Sheriff’s Office will also be distributing information to parents about the Office’s drug test kit initiative, the STOPPED Program and Computer Cop.
