RIVERHEAD, NY-- Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent DeMarco, the newly appointed Chair of the County’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC), today met with Health and Social Service department officials to discuss how the county can begin to bill Medicaid and insurers for certain hospital and other expenditures for county inmates. It’s a move that could potentially lead to millions of dollars in savings and also reimbursement revenues.

“Suffolk County residents pay more than their fair share of state and federal taxes relative to amount of tax dollars they receive in services and reimbursements.  As the new Chair of the CJCC, I’m going to be very aggressive about finding ways the county can maximize its savings and revenues, find grant opportunities for our non-profit community and ultimately improve services to our residents,” stated Sheriff DeMarco.
