During the ceremony, Sheriff DeMarco welcomed the new Undersheriff and said the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office is fortunate to have Kuehhas onboard. He stated, “Steve has a stellar reputation and brings nearly 30 years of diverse law enforcement experience to our executive team.”

County Clerk Pascale added that Correction Officers and Deputy Sheriffs have very tough jobs, and the public does not always recognize the important work they do to protect our residents.  She praised Kuehhas for his commitment to law enforcement and added, “The Suffolk County Correctional Facility is the last line of defense to protect the public and I know you are ready for this challenging new stage in your career.”

Kuehhas will provide direct oversight of the Sheriff’s Office’s managerial and senior supervisory law enforcement personnel and oversee the Office’s Internal Affairs Bureau, Internal Security Unit, Gang Intelligence Unit and the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
