Covid-19 Case Update October 15, 2021 4:30pm

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on October 15, 2021. Last updated October 14, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • 1,073,381 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 1,353
  • 966,560 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 1,827
  • 72.5% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 86.2% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose
  • 65.2% percent of the total population has completed the vaccine series
  • 78.4% of the population ages 18+ has completed the vaccine series, as of October 15, 2021
  • 76.1% of the population ages 12+ has completed the vaccine series, as of October 15, 2021

  • Vaccination rates by zip code
  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

  • 16,266  COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 5,370,771  total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 534  new cases were reported
  • 237,506 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 4.4% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 3.3% tested positive in Suffolk County; 3.2% positive on a 7-day average
  • 2.7% tested positive on Long Island; 2.7% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies: 87,141 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies; 414,375 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 4  fatalities
  • 3,584  total fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from October 14, 2021

  • 173  individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 15  in 24 hours
  • 15 were new admissions
  • 36 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) a decrease of  2  in 24 hours
  • 24 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 26 were discharged since the last report
  • 16,669 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,101 hospital beds, 602 available, 19%
  • 404 ICU beds, 93  available, 23%
