Lake Ronkonkoma Beach Closed

Huntington Beach Community Association Remains Closed

 

 

James L. Tomarken, MD, MSW, MPH, MBA, Commissioner of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services, said today that Lake Ronkonkoma Beach in Islip, NY is closed to bathing due to the finding of bacterial levels in excess of acceptable criteria. 

 

Huntington Beach Community Association in Centerport, NY remains closed to bathing.

 

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services’ website lists a large number of beaches as closed.  With the exception of the above mentioned beaches, these beaches have not yet opened for the season.  When using our website to determine conditions at a beach, follow the directions below.  A click on one of the red flags will list the reason that beach is closed.

 

For the latest information on affected beaches, call the Bathing Beach HOTLINE at 852-5822, contact the Department's Office of Ecology at 852-5760 during normal business hours, or visit the website at www.suffolkcountyny.gov/health and under “Our Mission”, “Our Environment”, click “Beaches”.
