COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - December 26, 2020, 4:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on December 26, 2020. Last updated December 25, 2020

Data is from December 25

COVID-19 Testing

  • 17,611 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 1,873,026 total tests have been administered since March
  • 1,272 new cases were reported
  • 89,257 total cases have been reported since March
  • 4.8% of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 6.4% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 6.5% positive on a 7-day average
  • 7.2% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 7.2% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing

  • 32,306 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies
  • 308,068 in total have been tested for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 7 fatalities
  • 2,243 total fatalities

COVID-19 Hospitalizations data from December 25, 2020

  • 622  individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 21 in 24 hours
  • 71 were new admissions
  • 98 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), no change in 24 hours
  • 47 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 69 were discharged since the last report
  • 7,525 have been discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,181 hospital beds, 1,000 available, 31 percent
  • 428 ICU beds, 127 available, 30 percent
