COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - January 23, 2021, 6:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on January 22, 2021. Last updated January 21, 2020.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

As of January 23 at 11 a.m., in Suffolk County

  • 187,135  COVID-19 vaccine doses have been received
  • 153,862 doses have been administered, 82%

COVID-19 Viral Testing: On January 22:

  • 19,963  COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 2,364,834  total tests have been administered since March
  • 1,309 new cases were reported
  • 134,057 total cases have been reported since March
  • 5.7% of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 6.3% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 7.1% positive on a 7-day average
  • 6.6% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 7.6% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing

  • 34,552 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
  • 321,030 total were tested for antibodies


  • 16 fatalities
  • 2,677 total fatalities

Hospitalization data from January 22, 2021

  • 817 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 4 in 24 hours
  • 84 were new admissions
  • 130 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 5 in 24 hours
  • 85 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 83  were discharged since the last report
  • 9,718 discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,208 hospital beds, 676 available, 21%
  • 433 ICU beds, 86 available, 20%
