Suffolk County Parks offers special group areas to be used exclusively for Scouts and Youth Groups. These Areas are located in Blydenburgh, Cathedral Pines, Indian Island, Sears Bellows, Cedar Point, Southaven and West Hills County Park.

Cub Pack Camping

Cub Packs are members of the junior branch within the Boy Scouts of America for younger boys, also known as Cub Scouts, that are required to have parents and/or legal guardians present with them during activities. Cub Packs campgrounds are found in Blydenburgh County Park, Cathedral Pines County Park, Cedar Point County Park, Indian Island County Park, Sears Bellows County Park, and Southaven County Park. Camping Season is from April 1st – November 1st of the calendar year. Water accessibility ceases Park Wide on November 1st. Please see the Cub Pack Instructions and Camping Information sheet for additional information and campsite amenities.

To apply for a Cub Pack Camping area you will need to follow the following procedure:

  • Read information packet and fill out the Cub Pack Camping Application. The application can be filled out online.

  • You will receive a confirmation email within 5-7 business days if the area/dates are available.
  • Payment must be made before the camping event.

Cancellations must be done in writing to SCParks@suffolkcountyny.gov and be made 48 hours in advance. There are no refunds, however household credit may be issued. Rescheduling must be done within 1 year of original reservation.

Scout and Youth Group Camping

A Youth Group is classified as an organization with the focus on providing activities and socialization for minors, usually under the sponsorship/supervision of a church, political organization, school, etc.; for example, The Boy Scouts of America. Scout and Youth Group Campgrounds are found in Blydenburgh County Park, Cathedral Pines County Park, Cedar Point County Park, Indian Island County Park, Montauk County Park, Sears Bellows County Park, and West Hills County Park. Camping Season is from April 1st – November 1st with the exception of West Hills, which is open all year for Scout Camping.
