Suffolk County Honors Veterans and Active Duty Military Personnel

Two Events to Take Place This Weekend to Honor the Lives and Service of Members of the Armed Forces

County Executive Bellone and the Director of the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency, Tom Ronayne announce two events to honor the lives and service of Long Island veterans. 

 Veterans Mass Inurnment-Long Island National Cemetery-Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency in collaboration with the Missing In America Program, the National Cemetery Administration, Nassau/Suffolk Funeral Directors Association and a host of veterans service organizations, collaborated to identify the remains of unclaimed veterans to provide the appropriate burial with the dignity and respect that they had earned through their years of service to our nation.

 

In total, 63 remains will be provided the proper burial making this Inurnment Service the largest event of its kind in the United States.

 

When:  May 19, 2012

Suffolk County “Remembering Our Veterans”-Armed Forces Day

County Executive Bellone and the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency pay tribute and honor Suffolk County veterans and active military personnel who served their country in times of war and peace. Those who are honored on this day include people who serve the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. National Guard and Reserve units.
