COVID-19 update 4-25-24

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on April 24, 2024

According to CDC, hospital admission rates and the percentage of COVID-19 deaths among all deaths are now the primary surveillance metrics.

COVID-19 Hospitalizations for the week ending April 13, 2024

  • New hospital admissions of confirmed COVID-19 patients: 66
  • Percent change of hospital admissions from prior week: -35.3%
  • Hospital admissions per 100k in the past week: 2.3
  • COVID-19 hospital admissions level: Low

Daily Hospitalization Summary for Suffolk County – From April 23, 2024

  • 24 individuals were hospitalized
  • 58% were hospitalized due to COVID-19 or complications of COVID-19.
  • 6 were new admissions since the last report.
  • 8 were discharged since the last report.
  • 0 patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

NOTE: HOSPITALS ARE NO LONGER REPORTING DATA TO NYSDOH ON WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS.

Fatalities - April 24, 2024

  • 5,281 fatalities since March 2020
  • An increase of 1 since last report
  • Annual:
    • 2020: 2,311

    • 2024: 135 to date

Vaccination Information

Vaccination Clinics

The department offers COVID vaccines to uninsured and underinsured patients through New York State's Vaccines for Children program and Vaccines for Adults program, also known as the Bridge Access Program.

Those with insurance that covers the COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to receive their vaccines at their local pharmacies, health care providers offices, or local federally qualified health centers. Vaccination search.
