Unfortunately, due to the high surf conditions at Cupsogue, Montauk and Shinnecock East campgrounds, we are going to be closing the campgrounds and outer beaches tomorrow, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 5:00pm. This closure will remain in place for at least Thursday and Friday. We will be evaluating the coastal conditions over the next couple of days and will determine when it's safe to reopen. Emails have been sent to affected reservation holders with additional information.
In addition, Smith Point outer beach will be closing at 4pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, due to high surf conditions. It will remain closed until further notice. Beach guests should also be aware that rip currents are likely in the surf zones. Entering the water is not advised, visitors should stay in lifeguarded areas and follow lifeguard directions.
