Huntington, NY (July 25, 2013) – Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone is proud to announce the opening of an 8,552 square foot high tech accelerator space for start-ups on Main Street in Huntington Village. The opening of the co-location space coincides with the Suffolk Industrial Development Agency’s “Boost” program that aims to nurture start-up business in information technology, life and bio sciences, green technology and energy by providing them with benefits to make their operations more cost effective.

“Downtowns across Suffolk County are the perfect location for high tech start-ups,” said Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone. “Huntington Village is the ideal place for our County’s new tech accelerator creating dozens of high paying jobs for our innovation economy.”

“One of the most important things to the future of Suffolk County is creating an environment where new businesses can establish their roots and thrive,” said Suffolk County Legislator William Spencer. “Welcoming the tech accelerator space into Huntington Village is laying down the groundwork for further development and will bring similar businesses into the area.”

The space is established by the founders of Suffolk based tech start-up GroupGifting.com under their organization NuClique LLC. NuClique LLC aims to create co-working spaces for start-ups in Suffolk County. A package approved by the Suffolk IDA includes property tax abatements and sales tax incentives of over $100,000 for a five year period. The IDA’s support of this project is an extension of their efforts to grow the software and tech industry and to bolster economic development in Suffolk County.

“We have been working hard to make this happen for months,” said Anthony Manetta, CEO and Executive Director of the Suffolk IDA.  “Creating accelerator spaces across the County is an important piece to growing our tech industry. This project will create employment opportunities for our area’s dynamic workforce and support innovative entrepreneurs who want to launch local companies.”

The facility, to be located at 315 Main Street in Huntington is slated to become an epicenter for local tech networking with rich educational programs, speaker series, networking events and further collaborative activities. The opening of the center is a major step in attracting new young talent to the county and to accelerate tech development to Long Island.
