Suffolk County has collaborated with Mister Softee, Splish Splash, Adventureland, Long Island Ducks and the Long Island Aquarium in an effort to encourage the youth in Suffolk County and their families to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations.
The Camp Vax initiative sets aside a week before the start of the summer camp season that is dedicated specifically to camp counselors, staff and kids 12 and older to get vaccinated. The initiative kicks off on Monday, June 7 at the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge and will continue throughout the week with at additional walk-in locations across Suffolk County.
Mister Softee will be onsite at the H. Lee Dennison building for the kick-off event on June 7. The first 100 people vaccinated will receive a free cone!
Throughout Camp Vax week, children who receive their COVID-19 vaccination will be entered into a raffle for free tickets to Splish Splash, Adventureland and the LI Aquarium.
The vaccine that will be dispensed at Camp Vax week event will be the Pfizer vaccine, which will require a second dose three weeks after the first dose. Appointments for second doses will be scheduled during the first vaccination.
Residents who wish to receive their COVID-19 vaccination should bring identification. Children 12-17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or will need a completed consent form. Medical practitioners will be on site at all times to answer any questions and tend to any needs or health concerns.
