COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - August 25, 2021

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on August 25, 2021. Last updated August 24, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information - As of August 25, 2021             

  •         981,409 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 2,795
  •         66.3% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  •         79.3% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose  
  •         881,400 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 2,189
  •         59.5% percent of the total population has completed the COVID-19 vaccine series

  •         Vaccination rates by zip code
  •         Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   •         If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

COVID-19 Case Tracker- On August 24, 2021

  •         10,415 COVID-19 tests were administered
  •         4,767,263 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  •         420 new cases were reported
  •         213,541 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  •         4.5% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  •         4.0% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 4.2% positive on a 7-day average
  •         3.5% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 3.9% positive on a 7-day average

  •         COVID Antibodies: 73,656 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies; 399,162 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  •         2 fatalities
  •         3,445 total fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from August 24, 2021

  •         213 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 15 in 24 hours
  •         34 were new admissions
  •         28 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 3 in 24 hours
  •         15 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  •         20 were discharged since the last report
  •         15,280 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  •         3,101 hospital beds, 631 available, 20%
  •         394 ICU beds, 110 available, 28%
