COVID-19 Case Update - October 5, 2021

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on October 5, 2021. Last updated October 4, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • 1,062,046 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 801
  • 952,717 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 958
  • 71.7% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 85.3% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose
  • 64.3% percent of the total population has completed the vaccine series
  • 77.4% of the population ages 18+ has completed the vaccine series, as of October 4, 2021
  • 75.0% of the population ages 12+ has completed the vaccine series, as of October 4, 2021

  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

  • 9,631 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 5,240,217 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 354  new cases were reported
  • 233,362 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 4.5% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 3.7% tested positive in Suffolk County; 3.4% positive on a 7-day average
  • 3.1% tested positive on Long Island; 2.8% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies: 84,329 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies; 411,409 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 4 fatalities
  • 3,549  total fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from October 4, 2021

  • 179 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 1 in 24 hours
  • 24 were new admissions
  • 37 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an  increase of 4 in 24 hours
  • 23 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 17 were discharged since the last report
  • 16,434 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,136 hospital beds, 671 available, 21%
  • 397 ICU beds, 113 available, 29%
