COVID-19 Case Update - October 23, 2021

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on October 23, 2021. Last updated October 22, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • 1,080,177 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 738
  • 975,949 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 938
  • 72.9% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 86.7% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose
  • 65.9% percent of the total population has completed the vaccine series
  • 79.3% of the population ages 18+ has completed the vaccine series.
  • 77.0% of the population ages 12+ has completed the vaccine series.

  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

  • 13,093 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 5,470,084  total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 312  new cases were reported
  • 240,189 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 4.4% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 2.4% tested positive in Suffolk County; 2.6% positive on a 7-day average
  • 2.0% tested positive on Long Island; 2.2% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies: 89,349 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies; 416,745 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 2 fatalities
  • 3,611 total fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from October 22, 2021

  • 155 individuals were hospitalized, an  decrease of 12 in 24 hours
  • 11 were new admissions
  • 29 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) a decrease of 1 in 24 hours
  • 22 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 25  were discharged since the last report
  • 16,832 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,136 hospital beds, 585 available, 22%
  • 404 ICU beds, 98 available, 24%
