COVID-19 Case Update - December 4, 2021

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on December 4, 2021. Last updated December 3, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  •         1,125,673 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 1,275
  •         1,014,655 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 1,378
  •         76.0% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  •         89.2% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose
  •         68.5% percent of the total population has completed the vaccine series
  •         82.2% of the population ages 18+ has completed the vaccine series.
  •         80.0% of the population ages 12+ has completed the vaccine series.

  •         Vaccination rates by zip code
  •         Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering COVID vaccines and booster doses to Suffolk County residents who are age 5 and older. Appointments are recommend. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   •         If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

  • 13,760 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 5,944,689 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 830 new cases were reported
  • 56.0 cases per 100k; 56.5 on a 7-day average
  • 259,350 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 6.0% tested positive in Suffolk County; 6.3% positive on a 7-day average
  • 5.7% tested positive on Long Island; 5.9% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies:
  • On December 2, 2021: 98,900 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies; 426,860 total were tested for antibodies.   

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 2 fatalities
  • 3,697 total fatalities since March 2020

  Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data from December 3, 2021

  • 195 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 17 in 24 hours
  • 38 were new admissions
  • 33 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), no change in 24 hours
  • 18 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 18 were discharged since the last report
  • 17,503 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,136 hospital beds, 591 available, 19%
  • 393 ICU beds, 97 available, 25%
