COVID-19 Case Update - December 5, 2021

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on December 5, 2021. Last updated December 4, 2021

 

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • 1,126,6581 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 908
  • 1,015,836 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 1,181
  • 76.1% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 89.2% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose
  • 68.6% percent of the total population has completed the vaccine series
  • 82.3% of the population ages 18+ has completed the vaccine series.
  • 80.0% of the population ages 12+ has completed the vaccine series.

  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering COVID vaccines and booster doses to Suffolk County residents who are age 5 and older. Appointments are recommend. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

  • 18,217 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 5,962,906 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 1,112 new cases were reported
  • 75.1 cases per 100k; 59 on a 7-day average
  • 260,452 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 6.1% tested positive in Suffolk County; 6.3% positive on a 7-day average
  • 5.9% tested positive on Long Island; 6.0% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies:
  • On December 4, 2021: 99,165 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies; 427,138 total were tested for antibodies.   

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 1 fatality
  • 3,698 total fatalities since March 2020

  Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data from December 4, 2021

  • 192 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 3 in 24 hours
  • 31 were new admissions
  • 36 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 3 in 24 hours
  • 19 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 35 were discharged since the last report
  • 17,538 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,136 hospital beds, 603 available, 22%
  • 394 ICU beds, 102 available, 26%
