COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - December 20, 2021

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on December 20, 2021. Last updated December 19, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • 1,150,658 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 698
  • 1,039,489 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 723
  • 77.7% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 90.7% of the population ages 18 and older has received at least one dose.
  •         70.2% percent of the total population is fully vaccinated.
  • 83.1% of the population ages 18 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 80.8% of the population ages 12 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 74.9% of the population ages 5 and older is fully vaccinated.

  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering COVID vaccines to Suffolk County residents who are age 5 and older as well as booster doses to all who are eligible. Appointments are recommended. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • 14,288 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 6,187,281 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 1,696 new cases were reported
  • 114.5 cases per 100k; 108.4 on a 7-day average
  • 279,804 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 11.9% tested positive in Suffolk County; 10.1% positive on a 7-day average
  • 11.8% tested positive on Long Island; 9.8% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies:
  • On December 19, 2021: 101,753 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies; 429,870 total were tested for antibodies.   

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 7 fatalities
  • 3,751 total fatalities since March 2020

  Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data from December 19, 2021

  • 326 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 14 in 24 hours
  • 48 were new admissions
  • 57 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease if 1 in 24 hours
  • 32 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 27 were discharged since the last report
  • 18,031 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

  • 3,136 hospital beds, 891 available, 28%
  • 369 ICU beds, 101 available, 27%
