County News

COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - January 15, 2021, 4:00 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on January 15, 2021. Last updated January 14, 2020.

On January 14:

  •         27,442 COVID-19 tests were administered
  •         2,215,452 total tests have been administered since March
  •         2,181 new cases were reported
  •         122,597 total cases have been reported since March
  •         5.5% of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  •         7.3% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 8.3% positive on a 7-day average
  •         7.9% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 9.0% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing

  • 33,721  individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
  • 315,968 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 21 fatalities
  • 2,545 total fatalities

Hospitalization data from January 14, 2021

  • 821 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 16 in 24 hours
  • 88 were new admissions
  • 149  patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 9  n 24 hours
  • 79 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 86 were discharged since the last report
  • 9,025 discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,223 hospital beds, 675 available, 21%
  • 443 ICU beds, 92 available, 21%
