World AIDS Day 2015 Events

The time to act is now

December 1, 2015, is World AIDS Day. The Suffolk County Department of Health Services and its community partners encourage residents to do what they can this month to stop the spread of HIV, whether it is getting tested, participating in outreach and educational events, donating to help find a cure or encouraging those who are at a substantial risk for HIV to consider pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), a daily pill for that prevents HIV. Following is a list of World AIDS Day events.

Suffolk County Undertakes Review of Sewage Treatment Regulatory Program

Collaborative effort involves consultation with other government agencies and stakeholders

As an outgrowth of County Executive Steve Bellone’s Reclaim Our Waters Initiative, the Suffolk County Health Department has undertaken a review of existing sewage treatment plant (STP) siting and enforcement practices to identify opportunities to further strengthen its regulatory programs.
