In an effort to engage the public, officials, municipalities, regulators and various interest groups and stakeholders throughout the planning and environmental review of the Lease Program, the Department of Economic Development and Planning’s Director of the Division of Planning and Environment, established the Ten Year Advisory Group.
The Ten Year Review Advisory Group included representatives from each of the east end towns; non-government environmental organizations; recreational bay users and organizations; commercial and recreational fishermen; local, state and federal regulatory agencies; and local elected officials. Each member of the Advisory Group represented a point of view and were tasked with seeking feedback from their organization or respective stakeholder group. ROLE OF TEN YEAR REVIEW ADVISORY GROUP MEMBERS
- Seek input, views and concerns of local government and stakeholder user groups represented during the Ten Year review project.
- Share information with the Advisory Group.
- Advise the Department of Economic Development and Planning on changes to the Suffolk County Shellfish Aquaculture Lease Program.
