Seven Beaches Closed to Bathing

Huntington Beach Community Association Beach in Centerport is closed to bathing due to the finding of bacteria at levels that are in excess of acceptable criteria; six additional beaches are also closed.

Aerial Spraying for Mosquitoes

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of the following salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services’ Division of Environmental Quality will hold its regular monthly Board of Review Hearing on Thursday September 15, 2016.

Additional 15 Mosquito Samples Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. James L. Tomarken announced today that 15 mosquito samples (all Culex pipiens-restuans) collected between August 22 and August 28, 2016, have tested positive for West Nile virus.
