The Suffolk County Department of Public Works is planning to treat sections of Fire Island as part of its ongoing annual effort to control adult mosquitoes.

Lake Ronkonkoma Beach is closed to bathing due to the finding of bacteria at levels that exceed New York State standards.

Aerial Larvicide Notice

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat  salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.  Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued on the next suitable day.
