Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on August 30, 2022

COVID-19 Case Tracker - August 29, 2022

3,082 COVID-19 PCR tests were received.
8,133,177 total tests have been administered since March 2020.
276 new first-time cases were reported. (Please refer to notes at bottom of the NYSDOH COVID page for further explanation.)
18.6 cases per 100k; 25.7 on a 7-day average (includes reported PCR and antigen tests)
502,680 unique cases have been reported since March 2020.
8.3% tested positive in Suffolk County; 7.7% positive on a 7-day average.
8.3% tested positive on Long Island; 7.9% positive on a 7-day average.
6.6 reinfection rate per 100,000 on Long Island, as reported August 23, 2022.

* Note: As of Monday, April 4, the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) no longer requires testing facilities that use COVID-19 rapid antigen tests to report negative results. As a result, New York State's percent positive metric will be computed using only lab-reported PCR results. Positive antigen tests will still be reported to New York State and reporting of new daily cases and cases per 100k will continue to include both PCR and antigen tests. Due to this change and other factors, including changes in testing practices, the most reliable metric to measure virus impact on a community is the case per 100,000 data -- not percent positivity.

211 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 17 since the last report.
41% were hospitalized due to COVID-19 or complications of COVID-19.
65 were new admissions since the last report
23 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 1 since the last report.
10 patients were in the ICU and intubated.
61 were discharged since the last report.

Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering COVID vaccines to Suffolk County residents who are eligible. Appointments are recommended.
