Our Mission

The diverse scope of expertise and knowledge of the District has rendered the department an asset to the County’s goal to protect and preserve natural resources. The District’s dedication has been established by increased assistance provided to the agricultural community, private landowners and municipalities and by the many partnerships we established with various local, county, state and federal governmental agencies.

4 HR Erosion and Sediment Control Training Announcement

NYSDEC Endorsed 4-Hour Erosion and Sediment Control Training February 29, 2024 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. Under the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation’s Stormwater Permit GP-0-15-002, all developers, contractors, and subcontractors must identify at least one trained individual* from their company that will be responsible for implementation of the SWPPP, and have at least one trained individual on site on a daily basis when soil disturbance activities are being performed. In addition, developers must have a qualified inspector* conduct regular site inspections in accordance with GP-0-15-002.*Qualified inspectors and trained individuals must have 4 hours of training in the principles and practices of erosion and sediment control endorsed by NYS DEC, SWCD, or CPESC Inc. (Training is valid for 3 years.) Training is not required for CPESC, RLA, and PE certified persons.

COST: $100 per person, NON – REFUNDABLE

Includes; Refreshments, Training Materials, a Completion Certificate & Certified ID Card. Payment and trainee application must be received by COB 7/28/23 to reserve your seat. Only Checks or Money Orders payable to Suffolk County Soil and Water Conservation District will be accepted. Walk-ins are welcomed, however space is limited to first come first serve. An application for each trainee must be completed and returned with your payment before the training begins. You can prepay by mailing registration and check to Suffolk SWCD, 423 Griffing Ave, Riverhead, N.Y. 11901. Application should have participant’s personal address, phone number, and E-Mail address.

CHECK-IN: 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM Photo ID and signature required at check-in and check-out.

TRAINING: Training begins at 9:30 AM sharp; if you are late you cannot be trained. There will be one break. You must be present for the entire training and wait to receive a Certification Number and Completion Certificate.
