COVID-19 Related Items

As of September 12, 2023, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services is authorized to offer updated COVID-19 vaccines to only those Suffolk County residents who are uninsured or underinsured through the Vaccines for Children and Vaccines for Adults program.

CDC recommends the 2023–2024 updated COVID-19 vaccines.

Residents who have insurance that covers the COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to receive their vaccines at their local pharmacies, health care providers offices, or local federally qualified health centers. You can locate a convenient vaccination site using the vaccine finder tool: https://www.vaccines.gov/search/

Residents who meet the qualifications to receive a vaccination at one of Suffolk County vaccination clinics may walk in to any of our clinics listed here to receive a vaccine.

The mission of the Division of Community Mental Hygiene Services is to enable persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse and their families to access an appropriate array of services and supports to maximize an individual’s potential within the family and community.

Suffolk County Immunization Advocate is Named New York State Nurse Practitioner of the Year

 

Mary Beth Kolsap-Petraco, DNP, PNP-BC, CPNP, Coordinator of Child Health Services in the Suffolk County Department of Health Services, was named “2012 Nurse Practitioner of the Year” by the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association at its annual award ceremony in Saratoga Springs last Friday.

Suffolk County Advises Parents to Get the Lead Out

To raise the public’s awareness of the consequences of childhood lead poisoning, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services will participate in National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (NLPPW), October 21–27, 2012.

Peconic Estuary Program Turns 20

Flanders, NY – October 19, 2012-- County Executive Steve Bellone today welcomed elected officials, environmental leaders, business and industry representatives, scientists, and residents to Hubbard County Park in Flanders to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Peconic Estuary Program. In a signing ceremony reminiscent of one that took place 10 years ago, when the PEP Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan was finished, each of the officials signed a pledge to protect and restore the estuary that has been called one of the "Last Great Places" in the western hemisphere by The Nature Conservancy.
